I am a poet and a person who loves to talk about poetry.

Some academic background: I have taught creative writing and basic English at the college level and I have a small number of publications. I have a Masters in Fine Arts and a Bachelors in English literature.

Many people want to write poetry but are not taught much about how to do it in school. Sure, some people go on to get an English degree or an MFA, but you shouldn’t need a four-year degree to get some basic knowledge of line breaks or images. I’m hoping to make it just a little easier.

I don’t make any money from this site. It’s a passion project. I’m a true believer! Poetry is the most beautiful form of verbal expression and we should all have the tools to write it.

My hope is that anyone reading this site goes out and contradicts everything I’ve said. I’ve tried to keep things simple and functional, but poetry is much bigger than that. Take the parts you want, leave the rest, and good luck, fellow poets!
